Mukesh Kumar shares heartwarming moment with mother following India Test debut
Mukesh Kumar talked to his mother on the phone after his India debut.
The ongoing multi-format series between the West Indies and India has come forward to provide many opportunities to rising youngsters in the Indian team. Youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad were named in the Indian squad for the multi-format series, alongside new names like Mukesh Kumar.
After Jaiswal’s heroics in the first Test, it was Mukesh Kumar’s time to shine, as he made his much-anticipated debut for the Indian team when they took on the West Indies in the second Test of the series. Notably, Kumar represented Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and impressed with his performances, which became one of the biggest reasons for his India cap.
After becoming India's Test cap No. 308, the Indian pacer shared a heartwarming moment with his mother where he talked to her on a phone call. The 29-year-old thanked his mother for supporting him all these years and credited her for his success. The clip of the moment was shared by the BCCI across their social media platforms.
"Mom is saying you always be happy, keep progressing and my blessings are with you. She doesn't know what playing for India is, but her only wish is that her son keeps progressing. This is a very important moment for me," Mukesh Kumar said after the call.
India maintain dominance in Test series
After a fantastic win in the first Test, team India continued to dominate the Windies by putting forth an excellent performance in the second Test as well. Batting first, the Rohit Sharma-led side put in a marvellous performance. After Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma’s onslaught in the top order, Virat Kohli’s century and the knocks of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin were the cherry on top.
Scoring 438 runs in the first innings, India found themselves in a commanding position when the Windies came out to bat. Furthermore, they struck early, as Tagenarine Chanderpaul was dismissed quite early on. It could be interesting to see how the Windies bounce back on Day 3 of the second Test.
