Rajasthan Royals have been on a role in Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). They have been the only unbeaten side so far in the tournament. They have won all four of the games they have played. Sanju Samson’s captaincy has been the biggest talking point of their recent success. It is worth noting that the Rajasthan franchise reached the Finals of IPL 2022 and succumbed to Gujarat Titans.

Samson has opened up on his recent success as the captain. He stressed that the league can get complicated owing to its nature and he likes to keep things simple. The Kerala batter has been in sound touch with the bat too in IPL 2024. He has scored two half-centuries and one of them bailed the team out of a loss.

“I think what IPL throws out to the cricketers and the fans each and every year is something very interesting. First few games are really important to start the momentum as a team to the tournament like IPL. So I think definitely first game plays a huge role. Like normally IPL itself is a very challenging tournament, right? Everyone already knows that there are world standard bowlers, world standard teams, the best combination, the best competition,” Samson said while talking to Star Sports.

“So already, you know that you can bring your best game in IPL. Even if one point is less, it shows up actually. What my learning is from last season is to just keep it very simple as possible. So I think definitely we will go in with the 11 best options and then according to the toss, you just choose one extra guy to come into bowl or one extra guy to come into bat,” he added.

Here's the video of Sanju Samson sharing his insights:

last year it was like 14-15 people were ready: Samson

The current edition of the tournament has been going smoothly for Sanju Samson and his team. While talking about the team dynamics, Rajasthan Royals captain believes he has simplified things for his players in IPL 2024, which has helped in coming to the game with an uncluttered mind along with players well prepared than ever before. However, there is a concern regarding the performance of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hasn't scored above 25 runs in any of the four matches played so far.

"So I think as simple as we keep it, it will be good for our team and it will be good for the players even sitting out. So it really brings a lot of people into the XI. Normally it's just XI getting ready for a game. But last year it was like 14-15 people were ready. Because if 5-3 wickets get dropped early, an extra batsman will walk in. If they get hit early, the bowler will also be ready. So it can get very complicated if you allow it to. So I think the rule is to just keep it simple and just go about it," Samson concluded.
