The Defence PRO for Gujarat announced that the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team will perform the show for ten minutes before the start of the final to fill the entire country with a sense of patriotism as the Men in Blue take the field to script another golden chapter of Indian cricketing history. Ahead of the final, the team will do rehearsals on Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18.

Meanwhile, Australia reached the eighth final of the ODI World Cup history by defeating South Africa by three wickets in the second semi-final at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. After opting to bat first, South Africa were bundled out for 212 riding on a spectacular hundred from David Miller (101 off 116). In reply, Australia chased down the target in 47.2 overs as captain Pat Cummins (14* off 29) and Mitchell Starc (16* off 38) took their team home with an unbeaten 22-run stand.

India and Australia to face-off for second time in World Cup final

Earlier, India secured their place in the final after beating the old nemesis New Zealand by 70 runs in the first semi-final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, it will be India’s fourth appearance in the final of the ODI World Cup after having reached the summit clash earlier in 1983, 2003 and 2011 and winning it twice (1983 and 2011).

On the other hand, Australia will be playing their eighth final after having appeared in the mega clash in 1975, 1987, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and winning it on five occasions (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015).

India and Australia last met in the World Cup final way back in 2003 in Johannesburg where Australia emerged victorious by a massive 125-run margin to clinch their third title. Hence, the Rohit Sharma-led side will be eager to avenge the harrowing defeat after 20 years.
