Australia beat Pakistan by 62 runs in Match 18 of ODI World Cup 2023.
Australia registered their second win in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they beat Pakistan by 62 runs on Friday, October 20 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Pakistan failed to chase down the massive target of 368 as they were bundled out for 305 in 45.3 overs.
The Babar Azam-led side got off to a great start in their chase as openers Abdullah Shafique (64 off 61) and Imam-ul-Haq (70 off 71) added 134 runs for the first wicket off 127 balls. However, Marcus Stoinis brought Australia back into the game by dismissing both openers.

Captain Babar Azam once again departed cheaply getting dismissed for 18 (14) and left his side on 175/3 after 26.3 overs. Saud Shakeel (30 off 31), Iftikhar Ahmed (26 off 20) and Mohammad Rizwan (46 off 40) tried their best to keep their team in the game but Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa struck at crucial stages to keep Pakistan at bay. Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers for Australia with figures of 4/53 in ten overs while Josh Hazlewood didn’t leak runs registering figures of 1/37 in ten overs.
David Warner and Mitchell Marsh scored centuries in the first innings
Earlier in the day, Australia were put in to bat first by Pakistan and they happily accepted the invitation as openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh made Babar regret his decision. The duo put on a massive stand of 259 for the first wicket off 203 balls. Warner scored his fourth consecutive ODI hundred vs Pakistan as he played a brilliant innings of 163 off 124 balls smashing 14 fours and nine sixes.
On the other hand, Marsh scored 121 off 108 balls clobbering 10 fours and nine sixes. Following their dismissals, no other batter scored above 21 as Australia finished their innings on 367/9. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan as he scalped 5/54 in ten overs while Haris Rauf picked up 3/83 in eight overs.
