Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq were involved in a war of words during an Indian Premier League encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants. Since that game, Kohli's fans have been going after the Afghanistan pacer on social media and also on the field, expressing their anger.

However, things changed drastically during India's ODI World Cup 2023 encounter against Afghanistan in Kohli's hometown, Delhi, on Wednesday. The crowd was seen chanting 'Kohli' when Naveen came out to bat or bowl. In the second innings, when Virat was at the crease, he asked the crowd to not jeer Naveen. The two players went on to shake hands. After the match, the two were also seen sharing a light moment.

 Virat Kohli scores back-to-back half-centuries

India had a tough opening fixture in the ODI World Cup 2023 as they faced former five-time champions Australia in Chennai. The Aussie batters couldn't get accustomed to the difficult batting conditions and were bowled out for 199. In reply, India were reeling at 2/3 with three of their top four batters back in the hut. However, Virat fought it out against the pace troika of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and captain Pat Cummins to form a magnificent 165-run partnership alongside KL Rahul. When the former Indian captain was dismissed for 85, India needed just 33 runs to win and they got there with six wickets in hand.

On Wednesday, Virat continued his purple patch against Afghanistan. This time, circumstances weren't as difficult as the game against Australia. Thanks to Rohit Sharma's blitzkrieg, India went well ahead of the game during their chase of a below-par target of 273, on a belter of a track at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. When Kohli came out to bat, India needed 117 runs off 188 deliveries. The 34-year-old delighted cricket lovers with some fine strokes en route to his second consecutive fifty in the tournament. Virat remained unbeaten on 55 off 56 balls as India won the match by eight wickets with 15 overs to spare. The scintillating form of the talismanic batter will give India a lot of confidence as they head into a much-awaited clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday.
