‘Please tell me where I said you are jobless?’ - Jonty Rhodes lands in trouble with fans for ‘rude’ response to LSG fan
“Please tell me where I said you are jobless? Don’t tag me in your countdown, if you don’t want an honest response," Rhodes tweeted.
Lucknow Super Giants’ fielding coach and former Proteas star Jonty Rhodes has recently become the talk of the town after he was seemingly rude to a Lucknow Super Giants fan on X (formerly known as Twitter). The fan, who had been in hot pursuit of a LSG jersey for more than ten days, had been constantly engaging with LSG's posts. Rhodes finally broke his silence on the fan’s request.
In the tweet, Rhodes told the fan that he appreciated the support that he showed towards LSG but also that he should get a life. Seeing Rhodes’ reply, the fan took to the social media platform once again, explaining his stance. However, Rhodes provided clarification over his tweet.
Asking the fan where he called him jobless, Rhodes recalled his time with acid attack survivors. The former Proteas cricketer did apologise to the fan if he offended him.
“Please tell me where I said you are jobless? Don’t tag me in your countdown, if you don’t want an honest response. I have spent time with acid attack survivors at Sheroes Hangout, here in Lucknow. These incredible young women have to wait between 5-7yrs before the perpetrators of these terrible atrocities even get to court to face justice. These ladies, I have lots of time for, as they ask for nothing, other than for us to see them as people, who can still contribute to society. They are on day 1500, and still counting, so think about their countdown, before making an issue about yours. However, I am sorry if I offended you,” Rhodes tweeted.
