Rahul Dravid returns to bat alongside son Anvay during KSCA league game
Rahul Dravid made 10 off eight balls with a boundary.
Former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, recently walked onto the field alongside his son, Anvay, during a KSCA league match. The incident took place during the Sri Nassur Memorial Shield 3rd division game on Saturday, where the 52-year-old cricketing legend played for Vijaya Cricket Club.
Rahul, who has largely stayed away from competitive cricket since his retirement in 2013, made a rare return to action. Batting at No. 6, the Indore-born managed to score 10 runs off eight balls, including a boundary. While his stay at the crease was brief, the real highlight of the day was his 16-year-old son, Anvay, who hammered 58 off 60 deliveries, lacing his innings with eight boundaries.
Vijaya Cricket Club posted a total of 345/7, thanks to a century from Swapnil Yelave, who smashed 107 off just 50 balls, with 12 fours and four sixes. Young Lions Club’s AG Aditya was the pick of the bowlers for his team, claiming four wickets for 60 runs.

Rahul Dravid appointed as Rajasthan Royals head coach
Meanwhile, Anvay recently represented Karnataka in the Vijay Merchant Trophy and has captained the state’s U-14 team. His elder brother, Samit, is also a promising talent in Karnataka’s cricket circuit, playing as a pace-bowling all-rounder. Samit was even selected for India's U-19 squad for the home series against Australia in 2024 but had to miss out due to injury. He had also played for Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja Trophy's previous edition, which they won.
Senior Dravid is currently associated with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League, having returned to the franchise after his stint with the national team. He previously served as RR’s head coach in 2014 and 2015 before taking up a role with Delhi Capitals.
