Rishabh Pant celebrates MS Dhoni's birthday, cuts special cake for his idol
The former India captain turned 42 on July 7 this year.
Former India captain MS Dhoni is celebrating his 42nd Birthday on Friday, July 07 2023 and the entire cricketing fraternity has sent in wishes for the ‘Captain Cool’.
Dhoni is one of the most loved Indian cricketers all around the world as he has left an indelible mark on several players' careers who’ve played under his leadership. The legendary captain has also inspired several young cricketers to take up the sport and don the wicketkeeping gloves.
One such youngster who followed Dhoni’s footsteps is the India wicketkeeper batter, Rishabh Pant. The 25-year-old made his international debut in 2017 and spent the initial years of his career under Dhoni’s guidance. Pant, who’s rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy, celebrated the birthday of his idol and cut a special cake.
Pant took to Instagram to share the photo of cutting Dhoni’s special birthday cake and wrote, “Happy birthday Mahi bhai 💕 aap toh ho nhi pass aapke liye cake cut leta hun mai. Happy birthday ❤️ @mahi7781.”
Notably, Pant was touted as MS Dhoni’s replacement in the Indian team and has done a marvellous job in his Test career so far having scored hundreds in South Africa, Australia and England. However, his limited-overs numbers haven’t been that good as he averages 34 and 22 in ODIs and T20Is respectively.
Dhoni to return in IPL 2024 for his fans
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was recently seen at his vintage best in the IPL 2023 as he led Chennai Super Kings to their record-levelling fifth title. With the bat, Dhoni played the role of the finisher pretty well as he plundered 104 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 182.45.
Following CSK’s victory, Dhoni is now the most successful captain in the history of IPL with five titles to his name along with Rohit Sharma who’s also led Mumbai Indians to five successful triumphs. The ‘Captain Cool’ has promised his fans that he will return for another IPL season in 2024 and will try to finish off his career in style as he’s done for his teams on several occasions.
