Rishabh Pant provides update on injury, shares first message post deadly car accident
Pant shared an update about his recovery and revealed that he had a successful surgery.
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made a social media appearance for the first time since his tragic accident and informed his well-wishers about his successful surgery. Pant sustained severe serious injuries in the accident, and as a result has been ruled out of multiple India series as well as the Indian Premier League 2023.
The young batter, who survived a deadly car crash on December 30, is expected to be out of action for most of 2023. He was driving the car himself and hit the divider which led to the collision. His car caught fire, but the cricketer was rescued by the locals and was taken to a nearby hospital in Dehradun.
After almost two weeks from the accident, Pant shared a note on his official Instagram account on Monday, January 16, evening and wrote:
“I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. Just wanted to let everyone know that my surgery was successful and I am grateful to be on the road to recovery. My spirits are high, and I am feeling better every day and I want to extend my gratitude to all of you for your kind words, support, and positive energy during this difficult time.”

Thank you to the @BCCI, @JayShah & government authorities for their incredible support. From the bottom of my heart, I also would like to thank all my fans, teammates, doctors and the physios for your kind words and encouragement. Looking forward to see you all on the field.”
Pant was involved in a deadly car crash last month, while he was driving to Roorkee from Delhi to meet his family. He was admitted to a hospital in Dehradun and the BCCI released a statement revealing the seriousness of his injuries. The wicketkeeper-batter faced multiple injuries to his knee and his ligaments were damaged in the accident. He was then shifted to Mumbai where he underwent successful surgeries.
