Indian all-rounder Rishi Dhawan has announced his retirement from Indian limited-overs cricket. The 34-year-old cricketer revealed this decision following the Vijay Hazare Trophy group stages, where Himachal Pradesh failed to advance to the next round. While the veteran decided to step away from limited-overs formats, he has indicated his availability for Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season.

Dhawan represented India in four international matches, including three ODIs and one T20I, all played in 2016. Despite his brief international stint, he contributed significantly to domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the cash-rich league, Dhawan played for Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively, though he went unsold in the recent 2025 season auctions.

"It's with a heavy heart, even though I have no regrets, that I'd like to announce my retirement from Indian cricket (Limited over). It's a sport that has defined my life for the past 20 years. This game has given me immeasurable joy and countless memories that will always stay very close to my heart. I want to take a moment to show my gratitude towards the opportunities that were given to me by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders," Dhawan wrote in a social media post.

It has been a privilege beyond measure: Rishi Dhawan

Meanwhile, in 134 List A matches, he picked up 186 wickets at an average of 29.74 and scored 2906 runs at an average of 38.23, including one century. In T20s he bagged 118 wickets at an average of 26.44 and an economy rate of 7.60 in 135 matches, alongside 1740 runs at a strike rate of 121.33.

One of his career highlights came during the 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Leading Himachal Pradesh to their maiden domestic title, Dhawan registered his name in history as the first player to finish among the top five run-getters and wicket-takers in the same season. His tally of 458 runs and 17 wickets across eight matches played a crucial role in Himachal's first-ever domestic title.

"From humble beginnings to representing my nation on the grandest stages, it has been a privilege beyond measure. Cricket has been my passion, and my reason for waking up every morning. I would like to thank all of my coaches, mentors, teammates, and support staff for the valuable contributions you have made to shaping me into the person I am today," he added.
