Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli become joint-second Indians to feature in most ICC finals
India and Australia are currently locking horns in the World Test Championship final.
Winning an ICC tournament is certainly the highest achievement that any cricketer dreams of. With India currently locking horns with Australia in the finals of the World Test Championship at The Oval, Indian fans are expecting the world's number-one-ranked Test side to win the title and end the long-awaited drought of almost ten years without winning an ICC trophy.
Rohit Sharma leading the side into this summit clash will certainly be eyeing his maiden ICC title as the eye-pleasing opener is making his sixth appearance in ICC tournament finals along with former India captain Virat Kohli who will also be representing India for the sixth time in the finals.
Along with them, Ravindra Jadeja is also making his fifth appearance in an ICC summit clash. Veteran Indian middle-order batter, Yuvraj Singh leads the chart for Indians with seven such appearances to his name.
With the WTC final being played at a neutral venue both the finalist teams will have to adapt to the English conditions and the team which acclimatises better will definitely come out on top and lift the ICC Test Championship mace.
Following a successful two-year cycle, the Australians took the top spot on the WTC points table and turned out to be the first team to confirm its berth for the finals after winning the third Test against India in Indore.
Whereas team India, on the other hand, secured its spot for the championship final after a 2-1 victory over Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year and with some help from New Zealand. The Indian team ended second on the WTC Points Table.
India are playing their second WTC final after they ended up on the losing side in the finale of the first edition against New Zealand. A reserve day has also been allocated for the 'Ultimate Test' on June 12 if there is some substantial loss of play during the first five days.
