Rohit Sharma played a phenomenal knock in the Champions Trophy 2025 final to help India win the coveted title after 12 years. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by four wickets on Sunday, March 9, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai to win back-to-back ICC events. Last year, they got the better of South Africa in the finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.

After restricting New Zealand to 251/7 in their 50 overs, India romped home with an over to spare. Sharma was adjudged Player of the Match after scoring 76 off 83 balls, belting seven fours and three sixes. Following the win, the Indian players celebrated the triumph on the field alongside their family members.

Rohit Sharma was seen planting a stump onto the ground, bringing back memories of his iconic celebration from the T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados. In the Caribbean, the Nagpur-born had planted an Indian flag right in the centre of the ground.

Rohit Sharma led from front with bat in summit clash

Rohit led India commendably in the Champions Trophy but he couldn't register a big score leading up to the final. He registered scores of 41, 20, 15, and 28 in the first four matches. However, he stepped up in the all-important final, notching up a half-century in 41 balls.

India lost a few wickets through the middle overs but Rohit's blistering knock at the top of the order meant that the required run-rate was always manageable for the Asian giants. Apart from Rohit, Shreyas Iyer played an important knock of 48 to steer the team through the middle overs. KL Rahul (34*) and Shubman Gill (31) also played well to guide India to a famous victory.

India's next assignment is a five-match Test series against England, starting in June. The players will now join their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) teams as the highly-anticipated tournament gets underway on March 22.
