Very few from the present generation know the name of Ramakant Achrekar. But the name Sachin Tendulkar echoes beyond all generations as the world saw an Indian athlete's potential to be the best on the global stage. Achrekar is none other than the childhood coach of the legend Sachin Tendulkar. It is widely known that the Baharat Ratna awardee’s cricketing journey started at the famous Shivaji Park in Mumbai. It was the same ground where Late Achrekar spent the majority of his life nurturing young talents like Tendulkar.
