England brushed aside a rusty Pakistan in their first warm-up fixture of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Gabba on Monday, October 17. Jos Buttler's side made a mockery of Pakistan's 160, getting over the line in the 15th over to complete a resounding victory against the Asian outfit. England's Harry Brook and Sam Curran finished the chase in a canter with quickfire innings.

The English side led by Jos Buttler put in a Babar Azam-less Pakistan to bat first in the match. The Men in Green got off to a rollicking start as makeshift openers Shan Masood and Haider Ali registered a blistering 49-run opening stand in 4.5 overs. Masood was going great guns before being dismissed after the powerplay for a 22-ball 39 run innings.

Pakistan kept the foot on the accelerator, but three quick wickets in the middle overs derailed their assault, as they finished with a competitive total of 160 runs after the match was reduced to 19 overs per side due to a rain interruption. Sam Curran continued his good form with the ball, conceding just 12 runs in his two overs as England used as many as eight bowlers in the innings.

England's middle-order had an impressive outing against the Pakistani bowlers

England in their chase opted to go with the opening pair of Alex Hales and Phil Salt, who were a feature for the side in the seven-match T20I series in Pakistan. Unfortunately for Jos Buttler, neither of them could make use of that chance and were dismissed cheaply. That is when star all-rounder Ben Stokes started his counterattacking innings. After Stokes's departure, it was the turn of the returning Liam Livingstone, who smashed a delivery from stand-in Pakistani skipper Shadab Khan out of the Stadium.

Livingstone's blitz was followed by Harry Brook and Sam Curran's breathtaking partnership. The duo registered 59 runs in just over four overs to get home in a hurry. The English batters were helped by the Asian side, who were sloppy on the field and missed a couple of glorious chances to make a comeback in the game. The only good news for the Paksitan side was the return of mercurial pacer Shaheen Afridi, who conceded just seven runs in his two overs.

Twitter was at its hilarious best during England's encounter against Pakistan:
