T20 World Cup 2024: Top 10 Memes from NED vs SA, Match 16

South Africa (RSA) and Netherlands (NED) took on each other in game 16 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Saturday, June 8. The clash began with the Netherlands coming in to bat first losing the toss.

The decision to bowl first proved to be right for the South African skipper Aiden Markram as the Dutch side lost their top-order batters under the powerplay and their score stood at 20/3 after six overs. Star allrounder Bas de Leede also had a poor outing with the bat as he departed after scoring just 12 runs.

Sybrand Engelbrecht played a crucial knock of 40 runs when the remaining batters failed to go big. In his 45-ball stay, Engelbrecht smashed two boundaries and one six, respectively. The Proteas had the first innings in their favour as they limited the Scott Edwards-led side to a total of 103/9 after Ottneil Baartman took four wickets, with Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje taking two wickets each.

Aiming to chase down the target with relative ease, South Africa got off to a terrible start as openers Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock departed for three and zero runs, respectively. Skipper Markram also departed after a three-ball duck, along with Heinrich Klaasen, who added four runs on the board.

From there, Tristan Stubbs along with David Miller stitched a partnership of 65 runs. While Stubbs walked back after scoring 33 runs. But the star performer was Miller who scored an unbeaten 59 runs to take his side over the line. He smashed three boundaries and four sixes. 

South Africa held their nerves and won the T20 World Cup 2024 game by four wickets with seven balls to spare. Vivian Kingma and Logan van Beek picked two wickets each for the Dutch side but failed to defend the total.
