The upcoming edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin on November 22. Team India have had the upper hand in the last four editions of the high-profile contest as Australia’s last series victory records back to the 2014-15 season. Ahead of the upcoming edition, spin wizard Nathan Lyon noted that the team is hungry to get the job done this time around, while the likes of Steven Smith and Mitchell Starc too opened up on the intense rivalry against India.

Travis Head is the latest Australian cricketer to comment on the upcoming series. Notably, he has a terrific record against India and wants to contribute significantly in the upcoming Australian summer. Meanwhile, the flamboyant batter stated that India are not his favourite opponent in international cricket as Australia play them very frequently.

“I don't feel like they're my favourite. I just feel like we play them enough, play them lots. And, I guess the last couple of years I've been in nice form. So yeah, being able to, to play well, it's always nice. It's not hard to get up for the contest. It's hugely competitive. Yeah, it's easier to get up for the game. So I wouldn't say they're my favourites,” Head said while talking to Star Sports

“They're extremely difficult but it's been nice to play well in a couple of games and looking forward to preparing well and being ready to go and...hope hopefully I can contribute to what's a successful summer for us,” he added.

Australia to play five Tests before clashing with India at home

Ahead of the blockbuster Australia tour, India will play five more Test matches - two against Bangladesh, and three against New Zealand. The two series will give the team management to finalize their squad for the Australia series as India still have things to worry about.

Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul’s form is going to be closely monitored, especially given that India are likely to travel Down Under without the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, who have proved fantastic for the team previously.
