Ellyse Perry dismissed Nat Sciver-Brunt on the penultimate delivery of the 15th over of the run-chase to ensure her side a vital breather during Match 20 of the Women's Premier League 2025 between Mumbai Indians Women and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women on Tuesday, March 11.

The menacing Sciver-Brunt, who was batting on 69, did not pick up the off-cutter. The English all-rounder, who was shaping up for a maximum, lost her footing due to the lack of pace to top-edged the ball high up in the air. Perry settled under the ball and gladly accepted the high-pressure opportunity while showing no nerves at all.

The catch ended up being a match-defining one, as Bengaluru ended their WPL 2025 on a high with a nine-run win to their name. They were on the back of a five-game losing streak ahead of this game. The loss to Mumbai meant they failed to gain direct access to the final of the competition.

Mandhana, Perry help Bengaluru rack up 200-run target

Coming to the first innings, it was solely due to Smriti Mandhana and Perry's knocks that guided Bengaluru to end up with a competitive total on the board. After a lean patch with the bat, Mandhana looked to have returned to her best while facing the new ball.

Although Perry started off as the anchor to Mandhana, she picked up her tempo towards the business end of the innings. A blinder of a 31-run cameo by Georgia Wareham provided the tourists with just what was required at the end of their innings.
