Virender Sehwag was bashed on social media after allegedly using a derogatory remark towards Orry. However, a video went has proved his innocence.

A star-studded commentary panel had been lined up by the official broadcasters of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 for the analysis of the season opener between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, March 22. Suresh Raina and Sehwag were some of the former Indian players who were on the Hindi show when social media influencer Orry made a surprising appearance.

Orry has become a popular figure in recent times with a substantial number of followers on his various social media handles and his close relations with top Bollywood celebrities. Sehwag was blasted on social media after he allegedly used a derogatory statement to demean Orry. However, a video has now surfaced that shows that the cricketer-turned-commentator never used the term to describe the 24-year-old.

Here's how the entire conversation panned out:

Orry: "Ye suit na bahut mehenga hai. Is mein sports nahi khel sakte. But baad mein dikhayega (This is a costly dress, won't be able to play in this one)

Anchor: "You want to show your favourite signature shot?"

Sehwag: "Main maara toh inhe bahar hi bhejunga (If I hit, I will smack him out)," Virender Sehwag replied.

A post went viral on X (previously Twitter), where Sehwag was falsely accused of using a derogatory term to refer to the LGBTQ+ community.

CSK make impressive start to their title defence, beat RCB by six wickets

The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk witnessed some fantastic cricket from the home team as Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first on a sporting wicket. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis looked in sublime touch and hit a flurry of boundaries inside the powerplay. However, the other four batters in RCB's strong top five failed to make an impact. Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat added 95 runs for the sixth wicket to take their team to 173/6 in their 20 overs after Mustafizur Rahman bagged a four-for.

In reply, all the Chennai batters got starts but debutant Rachin Ravindra's 15-ball 37 hogged the limelight. After the youngster's blitzkrieg at the top, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja's unbeaten 66-run partnership off 37 balls helped the hosts reach the target with six wickets and eight balls to spare.
