Axar, Hardik unsettle Pakistan with strikes in successive overs

Pakistan were building along nicely courtesy of the pair of Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan, who had put together a century stand after the dismissal of the opening batters within the powerplay. However, twin strikes from Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya in the 34th and 35th overs of the first innings, respectively, dented them severely.

After Hardik secured his second wicket of the day, Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Tayyab Tahir to leave Pakistan five-down. Kuldeep then added to their woes by striking twice on two deliveries, sending back Salman Ali Agha and Shaheen Afridi to kill the chances of any lower-order fightback.

Notably, Pakistan are in a must-win territory after losing the tournament opener to New Zealand by 60 runs.
