Watch: Emotional fan touches MS Dhoni's feet
MS Dhoni is one of the most revered cricketers not only in India but also in world cricket.
India is a country where cricket is a religion. The fans worship their cricket idols and try their best to make them feel special. Over the years, some cricketers have managed to earn unadulterated affection from the fans because of their exploits on the field. MS Dhoni, however, is someone who is loved not only for his contributions to Indian cricket on the field but also because of how humbly he carries himself off of it.
The legendary cricketer has set an example for cricketers from the smaller circuits in Indian cricket, showing that with hard work and perseverance, substantial obstacles can be overcome. Under Dhoni's exemplary leadership, India won three ICC events, including a T20 World Cup and an ODI World Cup. In the Indian Premier League, the 42-year-old has led the Chennai Super Kings to five titles. He rarely posts on his social media handles but still has millions of followers.
Recently, a social media user posted a video on 'X', formerly known as Twitter, where a young lady was seen touching the wicketkeeper-batter's feet. Dhoni greeted the fan with utmost generosity, shook hands, and also posed for a wholesome picture. The smile on the fan's face was explaining how elated she was after meeting the stalwart in person.
What Mahi bhai always says is to take it one game at a time: Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad joined Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2019 and has seen MS Dhoni captaining from close quarters. The talented youngster will be leading the Indian team in the upcoming Asian Games, where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opted to send the fringe players as the main team will be busy with their final preparations ahead of the ODI World Cup. Ruturaj recently revealed the advice he got from Dhoni regarding leadership.
“I think leadership role is a very complicated thing to be honest. What Mahi bhai always says is to take it one game at a time. Just be in the present moment, don’t worry about the future. Everyone creates hype and whatever it is. I am not the kind of person who do really watch social media and hear things about what anyone is saying about me. I think this is one of the traits that I have learned at CSK. I am pretty much clear about giving my best in the field, coming back home, chilling with my friends,” said Gaikwad at a press conference after the second T20I between Ireland and India.
