India’s T20 World Cup winning squad was welcomed with a water salute at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Notably, a water salute is a rare occurrence and is done as a mark of respect or appreciation. India managed to win the T20 World Cup after 17 years and an ICC trophy after 11 years, for which, a special arrangement was made.

Meanwhile, thousands of fans have gathered at Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium to celebrate India’s win. The crowd in Wankhede Stadium was seen cheering the names of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya while people in Marine Drive didn’t leave despite heavy rain. For Hardik Pandya, life came full circle.

He was subjected to immense criticism and trolling during IPL 2024 but the star all-rounder won back the heart of Mumbai once again. He looked in a great mood on the morning of July 4, when the cricketer was spotted dancing with a group of people. He also celebrated India’s win by cutting a special cake that was arranged for the players at ITC Maurya.

BCCI along with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) planned to felicitate the players and support staff at Wankhede in the evening. Shah is likely to hand over a cheque of INR 125 crore to the captain and the coach Rahul Dravid while the players will take a victory lap in the stadium.

A victory parade is also arranged at Marine Drive. It was scheduled to begin at 6 PM IST but the team is currently running late. However, the fans are in no mood to go back and will be waiting to meet the champions of the T20 World Cup.
