Aniket Verma smashed Axar Patel for two back-to-back maximums after going inside-out for a boundary on getting to his maiden IPL fifty in Match 10 of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, March 30.

The third delivery of the 15th innings of the game was clubbed for a 102-metre maximum over deep mid-wicket. The ball was dragged a fraction back. The right-handed batter rocked back and swung it for a massive six over the long-off region on Axar's fuller delivery. The Bhopal-based cricketer had already hit a couple of sixes on the two balls preceding this one, but the last of the lot added a cherry on top. The 23-year-old pummelled the ball over the bowler's head.

Opting to bat first, SRH got off to a mixed start with the bat. They lost a total of four wickets inside the powerplay. However, the aggressive brand of cricket meant they also scored 58 in their first six overs. Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy all departed for single-digit scores.

Verma, coming in at No. 5, forged a crucial 42-ball 72-run stand with wicketkeeper-batter, Heinrich Klaasen, to bail his side out of the earlier trouble which they were surrounded with. The former kept going even after Klaasen's dismissal. He brought up his half-century off 34 deliveries. It was because of his splendid effort (74 off 41) with the bat that the Orange Army ended up scoring 163.

As for DC, Kuldeep Yadav was the most economical bowler. The wrist-spinner conceded only 22 runs in his four-over spell. Mitchell Starc ended up securing his maiden five-wicket haul in the IPL. He secured SRH's final wicket on the fourth delivery of his final over, ending up with figures of 5/35 in 3.4 overs. Kuldeep and Starc bowled a total of 25 dot balls between them.
