Sunrisers Hyderabad's all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy let his emotions get the better of him after being dismissed in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on Thursday. The youngster, who was looking to anchor his side's innings, lost his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi and was visibly frustrated as he walked back to the pavilion, throwing his helmet in disappointment.

The right-handed batter walked in to bat under pressure after SRH lost early wickets. With most of the senior batters back in the dugout, the 21-year-old had the responsibility to bat deep into the innings. However, his stay at the crease was cut short in the 15th over when he misjudged a googly from Bishnoi.

On the first ball of the over, the leg spinner bowled a tossed-up delivery on the middle stump, which Nitish attempted to hit down the ground. However, he completely misread the googly, and the ball crashed into his middle stump. Nitish, who was frustrated with his misjudgment, was seen removing his helmet and throwing it away as he walked back to the pavilion. He made 32 runs off 28 balls, lacing his innings with two boundaries.

Earlier, the game began with LSG skipper Rishabh Pant calling it correctly at the toss and opting to field first. In the third over, Shardul Thakur dismissed both Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan in consecutive deliveries. Nitish then steadied the innings alongside Travis Head, adding 61 runs for the third wicket before Head fell for 47. He later shared a 34-run stand with Heinrich Klaasen before Klaasen was run out for 26. Late cameos from Aniket Verma (26 off 13) and captain Pat Cummins (18 off 4) helped SRH put a total of 190/9. The home team struggled to score a big total, which was expected of them on Hyderabad's batting track. Shardul was the pick of the bowlers, claiming a four-wicket haul, while other LSG bowlers chipped in with a wicket each.

"I feel all these things happen in cricket. It was a bad day for me in the auction (I didn't get picked by any franchise). LSG was the one who approached me first due to the injuries to their bowlers, so it was always on the cards. I had to accept it with Zaheer Khan around. You have to go through such things (ups and downs) in cricket. Winning in the game is important for me. I don't look at the wickets or runs column. I want to create an impact and a match winning performance. The batters are coming hard at the bowlers, why not the bowlers go hard at them, That was our plan against SRH. They have been scoring heavily on flat pitches. It fell in our pockets initially," Thakur told the broadcasters after his spell.
