[Watch] IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma deposits Jamie Overton delivery in second tier

Rohit Sharma hammered a pull shot into the second tier of the Wankhede Stadium during the recently-concluded clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, April 20. The massive maximum was hit on the fourth delivery of the second over of the second innings.

A short of a length delivery by Jamie Overton was mercilessly dispatched by Rohit in classical fashion. The seasoned campaigner transferred his weight splendidly before picking the ball off his hips to banish it into the upper section of the venue.

Rohit added 63 alongside opening partner, Ryan Rickelton, before the latter was dismissed by one of the two half-centurions from the first innings, Ravindra Jadeja. Rickelton headed back for 24 off 19 deliveries. MI are in pursuit of a 177-run target.

Earlier in the evening, MI won the toss and opted to field first. Jadeja top-scored for the CSK with 53 off 35 deliveries. Shivam Dube also contributed with a 32-ball 50-run knock. Both of them hit six of the eight sixes CSK hit in their entire innings. Shaik Rasheed (19 off 20) and Rachin Ravindra (five off nine) did not contribute much at the top of the order.

As for MI, Jasprit Bumrah starred with 2/25 in four overs. Mitchell Santner impressed with the ball too. He conceded only 14 runs in the three overs he bowled. Ashwani Kumar was the most expensive bowler for the hosts. The 23-year-old conceded 42 runs in his couple of overs.
