Watch: Marco Jansen's stunning catch at midwicket sends Harry Brook packing
Harry Brook departed after adding 19 runs to the tally.
In the ongoing Match 11 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, South African all-rounder Marco Jansen made an impressive catch at midwicket to dismiss England’s Harry Brook. The dismissal further dented England’s innings, which had already suffered early setbacks against a solid South African bowling attack.
In their final Group B match, the Three Lions faced the Proteas at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Saturday, hoping to finish on a high. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Jos Buttler-led side was off to a disappointing start as they lost their top-order under seven overs.
Meanwhile, the incident took place in the 17th over. Keshav Maharaj bowled a tossed-up delivery on the leg stump, inviting Brook to go big. The right-hander took the bait, looking to loft it over midwicket, but he failed to generate enough elevation. Jansen sprinted in from long-on, covering 28 meters in the outfield, and executed a perfect dive to his right and slid onto his knees while grabbing on to the ball. Brook, who had managed 19 off 29 deliveries, walked back in shock.

South Africa eye to top Group B
Earlier, Jansen was the chief architect of England’s collapse, rattling the first three batters. He sent Phil Salt back in the very first over, then removed Jamie Smith without allowing him to get off the mark.
His third scalp was Ben Duckett, who was batting on 24 before chipping a catch straight back to Jansen off a leading edge. At 37/3, after seven overs, England desperately needed a partnership. Joe Root and Brook attempted to rebuild the innings, and they successfully did by putting up a 62-run stand. However, just when Brook looked to be settling in, the tall all-rounder produced a brilliant moment in the field.
Brook’s dismissal at 99/4 once again put the side on the backfoot. Just four runs later, Joe Root fell to Wiaan Mulder for a knock of 37. Liam Livingstone followed soon after, stumped off Maharaj for nine, with England's scorecard reading 114/6 in the 21st over. At this point, Buttler is England’s last hope to take his side to a defendable total. Meanwhile, this is Buttler's last game as England captain, and he will look to make the most of it.
