MS Dhoni was retained ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The five-time IPL title-winning captain will play the 18th season of the cash-rich league as an uncapped player with a retention price of just four crore rupees. Subsequently, Chennai Super Kings managed to retain most of the core squad and are buoyed ahead of the impending season to go all guns blazing.
As the former India captain is only seen playing competitive cricket for just two months in a year, meanwhile he has been spotted at various events with family and friends. One such event was renowned Bollywood music composers, Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant’s music event. The video of the same was uploaded by Salim on his Instagram account.

My main goal is to play for India again: Deepak Chahar
Speaking of CSK, they will be without the service of their cherished pacers, Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande. The Stephen Fleming and Co. at the auction table did bid for Chahar but the right-arm bowler was bought by Mumbai Indians for 9.25 crore. It is worth noting that, he has not represented any franchise other than CSK since 2018.
"I'm quite happy. I had hoped to continue with CSK, but no regrets. Now, I'll be playing for another great franchise that has won five IPL trophies. I'll obviously miss playing with MS Dhoni. Mumbai Indians is a great franchise, so I'm really looking forward to playing for them,” said Chahar on Jio Cinema.
“My main goal is to play for India again. To achieve that, I need to play all 14 matches, perform at my full potential, and hopefully make a comeback for Team India. This is going to be a very important season for me," he added.
