Indian players finally had their first practice session on the fresh wickets in the outdoor nets at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Tuesday, December 24. After the training session, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma made his way towards the fans who were present in numbers to watch their favourite players from close quarters.

As the legendary cricketer started walking towards the dressing room after greeting the spectators, a young girl asked the Indian skipper to call Shubman Gill. By then, the Punjab batter had already finished his practice and exited the scene. However, the die-hard Shubman fan was persistent in her demand. Rohit waved his hand to signal that the 25-year-old had left after completing his training session.

Still, the inexorable fan continued with her demand. This seemed to have rubbed Rohit the wrong way as he loudly said, "Kaha se bulau (How should I call him)."

The girl was later interviewed by RevSportz, where she clarified that she is a big Shubman fan. She also acknowledged the fact that she was late but that was only due to her medical condition as she was putting a bandage on her fractured leg. She further backed Shubman to return to form as the 25-year-old has only aggregated 60 runs from three innings so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

“My leg is broken. I put on a bandage and came. Yesterday I saw him briefly, but could not say anything because I started crying. I came a little late today because of my leg, hence I could not meet Shubman (Gill). But I hope he makes a comeback,” the Shubman fan said.

The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1. The highly-anticipated fourth Test gets underway on Boxing Day (December 26) at the MCG. India will have fond memories from the last Test match they played at the MCG four years ago. The Asian giants won the match by eight wickets and went on to win the series. This time, a win at the historic venue will help India retain the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
