Indian skipper Rohit Sharma's fun interaction with fans has gone viral ahead of the Pink Ball Test against Australia in Adelaide. After India's win over the Prime Minister's XI, Rohit delighted his supporters by signing autographs and posing for photos.
After India played their warm-up game, fans gathered around the 37-year-old in the dressing room alley. Among the crowd, one excited fan screamed, "Waited for this day for the last 10 years." This drew a smile from the Indian skipper, who continued to sign bats, shirts, and other memorabilia.
India beat PM's XI by six wickets
The warm-up match against the PM's XI was an important preparatory step for the visitors as they geared up for the challenges of the pink ball. Rohit, who came to bat at No. 5, struggled to find form, managing only three runs before being caught in slips. Nevertheless, the match was a valuable practice for both batters and bowlers ahead of the upcoming Test in Adelaide.
India’s pace bowlers, led by Harshit Rana, reduced the PM's XI to 138/7 before Sam Konstas anchored the innings with a stunning century to drag them to 240. India’s reply saw notable contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill, who performed well to boost their confidence.
The second match of the series, a day-night Test, will see India enterting with a 1-0 lead, aiming to bounce back from their past pink-ball woes; the infamous 36-all-out at the same venue in 2020.
