Canadian singer, Shawn Mendes, took the crowd at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse by storm after donning Team India jersey, with Virat Kohli name imprinted on it, midway through his performance at Lollapalooza at Saturday, March 8. The crowd at the Mumbai venue could not contain their excitement while Mendes switched into the former Indian skipper's jersey.
Notably, Lollapalooza 2025 marked Mendes' first performance in the cricket-crazy nation. His impromptu change of jerseys was also the underlying reason behind Kohli trending on X on the night of the concert and even after the gig.

Interestingly, this was not the first time that an Indian cricketer hooged the limelight during a concert in India. In January this year, Coldplay's lead vocalist, Chris Martin, dedicated a special song to India's pace-bowling spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, during the Ahmedabad leg of his India tour.
Notably, Kohli is currently a part of the Indian squad at the Champions Trophy 2025. At the moment, India are locking horns with New Zealand in the final of the tournament, being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9.
The Men in Blue's road to the final was a flawless one. India won all their group-stage games against Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand by comprehensive margins, emerging as toppers of Group A. Their semi-final clash against Australia was a closely-fought affair. However, India managed to get the better of the Aussies by a four wickets.

Speaking of Kohli's Champions Trophy campaign, he has registered scores of 22, 100*, 11, and 84, respectively. A seasoned cricketer like Kohli and his presence will understandably be of crucial importance to India's chances of clinching their third title of the marquee ODI tournament. India were joint-winners in 2002 and won it outright in 2013.
