Watch: Taskin Ahmed registers third-best figures in T20 history in BPL 2024-25
Taskin Ahmed bowled 15 dot balls in his four-over spell.
Bangladesh’s veteran pacer Taskin Ahmed created history with one of the most impressive performances in T20 cricket, scalping seven wickets for just 19 runs in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 clash between Durbar Rajshahi and Dhaka Capitals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on January 2, 2025.
The right-arm pacer's spell dismantled the Capitals' top order as he recorded the third-best bowling figures in T20 history. Taskin first removed openers Litton Das (0) and Tanzid Hasan (9) and then went on to bag key wickets of Shahadat Hossain (50), Shubam Ranjane (24), and several lower-order batters, including Chaturanga de Silva (1), Alauddin Babu (13), and Mukidul Islam (0).

Durbar Rajshahi defeated Dhaka Capitals by seven wickets
Taskin’s 7/19 not only earned him the best bowling figures of the ongoing BPL season but also placed him among the top three bowlers in T20 history. The record for the best-ever bowling figures in T20s belongs to Malaysia’s Syazrul Idrus, who claimed 7/8 against China in 2023. Netherlands' Colin Ackermann follows with 7/18.
Despite the pacer's brilliance, Dhaka Capitals managed to post a total of 174/9 from their 20 overs as Shahadat played a critical knock of 50 runs while Stephen Eskinazi contributed a quick 46. In reply, Durbar Rajshahi chased down 175 with 11 balls to spare. Rajshahi openers Mohammad Haris (12) and Jishan Alam (0) were dismissed early, but the innings were anchored by Anamul Haque (73*) and Ryan Burl (55*), whose partnerships guided their team to a seven-wicket victory.
