'We got to blow some teams out of the water before they have even walked out on the field' - Pat Cummins tells team after win over RCB

In the aftermath of Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) record-breaking demolition of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday, April 15, SRH captain Pat Cummins delivered an inspiring dressing room speech to boost confidence and set the tone for the rest of their IPL campaign.

SRH's batters thrashed the RCB bowlers, posting a mammoth total of 287/3, becoming the highest ever in IPL history. This came just days after they had hammered 277/3 against Mumbai Indians. Cummins praised the whole side on the way they showed their intent against RCB. 

“I will keep saying, you will hear from us all the time. That’s how we want to play. It’s not going to work every game. But I can tell you, everyone’s terrified of when they come up against us and we got to blow some teams out of the water before they have even walked out on the field. So, another great day, well done,” Cummins said in a video posted by SRH on Twitter.

Well done Markande: Pat Cummins 

SRH opener Travis Head spearheaded the onslaught, smashing a blistering 102 off just 41 balls. Heinrich Klaasen (67 off 31), Aiden Markram (32* off 17) and Abdul Samad (37* off 10) provided the late flourish that propelled SRH past the 280-run mark. Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Reece Topley all conceded over 50 runs in their four-over spells.

Cummins also pointed out spinner Mayank Markande for his crucial breakthrough, dismissing star batter Virat Kohli to dent RCB's chase. "I think the coaches spoke about being brave, slowing it up, and getting a big wicket of Kohli, I thought that was fantastic. So well done Markande," Cummins added.

Despite a valiant effort from Dinesh Karthik, who scored 83 off 35 balls, RCB ultimately fell short by 25 runs, finishing on 262/7. As SRH celebrates another triumph, sitting comfortably in fourth place in the table, their next challenge will be against Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals on April 20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
