Women's T20 World Cup: Jasprit Bumrah attends India-Pakistan game in Dubai

The Indian bowlers were clinical enough to restrict them to a meagre total of 105.

India Women (IND-W) took on Pakistan Women (PAK-W) in the Match 7 of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 6, in Dubai. As the arch-rivals locked horns on a sultry afternoon in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India’s star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah was in attendance at the stadium to support Women in Blue. 

Speaking of the game, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. The Indian bowlers were clinical enough to restrict them to a meagre total of 105. For India, Arundhati Reddy and Shreyanka Patil showed their prowess with the ball claiming three and two wickets respectively. During India’s batting, the renowned pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, marked his attendance for the thrilling game and also interacted with the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well.

India managed to overcome Pakistan hurdle 

Team India had a shaky start in the tournament as they lost to New Zealand in their first game by a hefty margin of 58 runs. They are placed in Group A with games against and Bangladesh left. Their Net Run Rate took a huge blow after the first game, dipping to -2.900. They needed a win against Pakistan by a big margin but only managed to chase down 106 in 18.5 overs and with six wickets remaining.

Shafali Verma played a gritty knock (32 off 35 balls) after Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for just seven runs. Jemimah Rodrigues pitched in with a vital knock (23 off 28 balls) and Harmanpreet Kaur walked back retired hurt after scoring important runs (29* off 24 balls) for the Indian side. After an early setback, Shafali and Jemimah steadied the boat with their 43-run stand for the second wicket.
