We are now just two days away from the much-awaited ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final and both India and Australia have unveiled their new kits for the marquee event. The one-off Test will be played from June 7 to 11 at The Oval, London and a reserve day (June 12) has also been kept in store if play gets interrupted substantially during the first five days.
Australia have designed the kit for the WTC final based on their current white-ball kits used in ICC global events. The font of their team name matches that of the same used during the recent T20 World Cups and 50-over World Cups, with yellow trim along either side and on the collar.
India, on the other hand, have made a handful of noteworthy differences to their white kit as they have moved to a new kit sponsor, Adidas, a popular sportswear manufacturing giant. The colour trim on the collar is a lighter blue than it was two years ago while the colour of the team name on the front matches the colour beneath, and the Adidas logo is imprinted on the right sleeve. In customary form, the players' Test cap number is displayed beneath the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) logo.
The new Indian kit for all three formats was unveiled by the BCCI and the sportswear company by sharing a clip on their official social media handles on June 1, which featured the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as the backdrop. In addition, players from both the men's and women's national teams were seen donning the kits in a separate clip posted by the BCCI.
The Rohit Sharma-led side has the advantage in this one-off Test since they are coming off winning the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy against the Kangaroos at home by 2-1. However, both sides have injury concerns ahead of the summit clash. In addition, playing red-ball cricket in English conditions will be challenging for both India and Australia.
