'Yeh to Bas Shuruat Hai!' - BCCI releases electrifying anthem for WPL 2023
Mumbai Indians will take on Gujarat Giants in the first match of the competition.
The inaugural edition of the much-awaited Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to begin on March 4 and ahead of that, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released its official anthem to create buzz among supporters.
The song begins with the holy mantra of goddess Durga, who symbolises power, courage and bravery among women. It is followed by the logos of all the five franchises participating in the marquee competition being shown on the screen. Later, the singer through the powerful lyrics sends a message that women cricketers are now ready to take over the world with their cricketing skills.
The anthem, named ‘Yeh To Bas Shuruat Hai’ was shared on the official Twitter handle of WPL. The post was captioned-
“Jaagi hui shakti ab mere paas hai, Dekho abhi, yeh toh bas shuruat hai! Sing along to the anthem lyrics video and don't forget to tune in to the TATAWPL from the 4th of March, live on @Sports18 and @JioCinema,”.
Countdown for the WPL 2023 begins
WPL is expected to popularize women’s cricket all over India as the biggest stars of international cricket will battle against each other across 22 days in two venues, namely DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. A total of 22 matches will be played in the competition as five franchises fight amongst each other for the coveted title. Each team will face each other twice, and the top three teams at the end of the league stage will qualify for the playoffs of the competition.
Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians are raring to go big as they have begun their practice sessions ahead of the curtain raiser of the season against Beth Mooney-led Gujarat Giants. The match will be hosted in the DY Patil Stadium and ahead of that, BCCI has planned a massive opening ceremony.
As per reports, Bollywood actors Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani will perform ahead of the big night while renowned singer AP Dhillon will be singing the WPL anthem.
