Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is not an unknown face to social media trolls. The pacer gets mocked for unwanted reasons, and often digs taken at him are not justified at all. Shami was criticized for posting a picture on Twitter, where her wife could be seen wearing western outfit. He was questioned by the ‘moral police’ group on the micro blogging site.

Shami has recently fired back at them and slammed them for involving caste and religion into sports. His wife Hasin Jahan was criticized for not wearing a hijab during their daughter’s birthday celebrations.

Shami gives it back to the trolls

“These things happen because of the lack of education. Relating someone’s success to his caste and religion is unnecessary,” Shami told India TV.

“I also feel that these people, who get jealous of other people’s success and happiness, are jobless. They just want to get featured in the media and look to gain some cheap fame. I don’t give value to such things because I know very well what I have to do and what I have to say,” he said.

Apart from Shami, all-rounder Irfan Pathan and cricketer Mohammad Kaif have also come under the scanner of the trollers, on many occasions. Shami has been included in the Indian squad for the limited overs series against Australia, starting from September 17. He was earlier rested from the ODI series as well as the one-off T20I match against Sri Lanka in the island nation.

The pacer is ready for the challenge ahead and has said that fire will be returned with fire. Sledging is a part of the game,” Shami said. “When your opposition has struck a partnership in the game, you sledge the batsmen to break their focus. We sledge but never using bad words. Sledging is very important when you have to dismiss a set batsman or break a partnership.” he added.
