The shooting of the movie will begin in August this year.
It has become a trend in Bollywood that every year at least one movie based on the sports is released which does well at the Box Office more often than not. While Sachin: A Billion Dreams, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Azhar are the three movies so far made in the industry based on cricket. All of them have done well since its release following the love for cricket in India. However, yet another cricket based rom-com is set to hit the theatres soon with the renowned actress Sonam Kapoor featuring in it.
The film is based on the 2008 Anuja Chauhan novel, the Zoya Factor. Sonam Kapoor will be paired alongside the South Indian sensation Dulquer Salmaan in the movie. The novel is based on a Rajput girl who meets an Indian Cricket Team through her job as an executive of an advertising agency and ends up being the lucky charm of the team in the World Cup. Dulquer Salmaan is set to play the role of cynical cricket captain of the team in the movie.
Story set to be around India’s 2011 WC triumph
According to the reports in Mumbai Mirror, the director of the film Abhishek Sharma has revealed that he has convinced the author of novel Anuja for some changes in the script. The story will be set in 2011 before India lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup at home and the base is shifted from Delhi to Mumbai. The shooting of the movie will begin in August this year.
“Cricket woven into a rom-com and touching on superstition and luck, it’s an amazing book for a screen adaptation. Now, we’ve gone back to Anuja who’s happy with the script to polish it and work on additional dialogues as nobody knows the characters better than her,” the director was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.
