The new BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has already taken steps in order to secure the future of the longest format of the game, arranging a day-night Test match against Bangladesh in Kolkata from November 22. Once a part of the Cricket Committee that chose the Indian head coach, now he looks to bring in his batting partner Sachin Tendulkar to help out budding cricketers.

Ganguly will remain in the position of BCCI President for 10 months before beginning his cooling-off period and wants to get many things done in that time. This includes getting legends of Indian cricket involved in the administration and asking them to help out up and coming young players. He has started by having a meeting with NCA head and his former teammate Rahul Dravid, who is training 16 young cricketers from foreign countries at the moment.

Sourav Ganguly wants Tendulkar to work with Gill, Pant and others

“The process has been started, but it is too early to make statements on the progress or how things stand. But, if all goes as per plan, you could see the likes of Shubman Gill or Rishabh Pant or Prithvi Shaw spending quality time with the legend and discussing not just their cricketing skills, but also the mental side of the game. This would indeed be another masterstroke keeping in mind the future of Indian cricket” a source was quoted as saying about Ganguly getting Tendulkar involved by the Hindustan Times.

Ganguly wants Tendulkar to work with the youngsters in the team and groom them into champion cricketers like he was, and it can work wonders given his 24 years of experience in international cricket. However, the source also mentioned that conflict of interest issue must also be kept in mind, which has been defined in the newly registered BCCI Constitution.

“That will have to be done in a way that while the kids can pick on the brain of one of the best to have played the game, there is also no issue of conflict whatsoever as far as Tendulkar is concerned. These things will need to be worked out,” the source pointed.
