Sourav Ganguly names his favourite cricketer of all-time
Saurav is one of those cricketers who enjoys a huge following even after retiring from the game.
Former Indian captain and the current Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly has revealed the name of his favourite cricketer. And its none other than the legendary Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who has been regarded as one of the greatest to have played the game of cricket. In his playing days also, Sourav has at times admitted replicating Tendulkar’s unique style and art of batting in all types of conditions.
Ganguly’s international career is full of many high and low stages that gave him the motivation to represent his country in 400 matches in all formats of the game. His Test debut at the iconic home of cricket Lord’s is still remembered for that fascinating hundred and since then Sourav has looked back at the clock. He was handed over the captaincy which also opened a lot of controversies. But still, the southpaw transformed himself into a great leader of the pack and changed the overall thinking of Indian cricket.
Sourav maintains his answer
In a recent interview with HT Brunch, Ganguly was asked the name of his favourite cricketer, to which he replied Sachin Tendulkar. This is also not the first time the former cricketer has announced that. He has always stuck to his words all throughout his playing days and even after taking retirement from the sport. The 41-year-old also revealed that he has been a keen admirer of former England cricketer David Gower in his young cricketing days.
Sourav and Sachin have always shared a strong bond when they opened for the Indian team in the early days. Both of them are role models, not just budding cricketers from India but for all players around the world. The two icons of Indian cricket have played a huge role in changing the mindset and thinking of many people and their way of approaching the game.
