South Africa and Australia on the cusp of touring Pakistan soon
PCB chairman Ehsaan Mani's trip to the South Africa has been deemed successful and is raising the fans' expectations.
Just a few days after India had pulled out of their tour to Pakistan in December 2008, Sri Lanka decided to fill the void and what followed was probably one of the most appalling and catastrophic incidents in cricket history. The Lankan cricketers were attacked by some terrorists just outside the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, an incident closed the doors for International cricket in the country for almost a decade.
There have been some rays of sunshine making the unfortunate local fans smile in recent times with the Pakistan Super League managing to bring cricket back to the country. Some esteemed cricketing names formed a World XI to tour the country and the Lankan side followed the suit shortly after that.
With every passing year, the number of matches happening in the country have gone up and now, the PCB is willing to bring the big guns into their country. If reports in Sporskeeda are to be believed, South Africa and Australia might be touring the subcontinental country in the near future. PCB chairman Ehsaan Mani’s trip to the Safari Lands has been deemed successful and is raising the fans’ expectations.
CSA and CA responding positively
A reliable source from the PCB has confirmed that Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Cricket Australia (CA) have been responding positively over a potential tour in the coming times. The board is optimistic that CSA will send their women’s, U19 and the senior team to tour Pakistan probably after the World Cup.
The source was also quoted saying that Cricket Australia might agree for one or two ODIs towards the end of March. Although many teams have agreed to play T20s in the country, they’re yet to host an ODI in over a decade.
“Cricket SA officials have told Mani they will look into sending the South African under-19, A, women’s and senior teams to Pakistan over a period of time. Things are looking bright after the positive response of CSA with regards to getting more international cricket matches in Pakistan,” he added as quoted by Times of India.
