Hashim Amla is one of the most consistent batsmen for South Africa in all the formats. Amla has been so consistent across the formats that he ranks in the top-15 in the ICC Ranking in all of them. The rankings are a clear evidence to show how significant a performer he is for the Proteas. However, he failed to do well in the series against India. The Indian bowlers were always one step ahead of him and troubled him all the way through.

He was expected to play an important role in the Tests and bail the team out of tough situations. However, the wasn’t the case and he succumbed to pressure. It was a similar case in the ODIs barring one or two odd innings. For a senior and experienced players like him, it was important to take up the responsibility since many other top players were injured. Hence, this makes him one of the biggest flops of the tour.
