South Africa v India 2018: Five of the biggest flops of the tour
Here is a look at the five of the biggest flops across all the formats from the series between India and South Africa this year.
3. Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya arguably is one of the biggest flops of the series. Often hyped as one of India’s best all-rounder, Hardik failed to live up to the expectation in the tour. Barring one innings in the first Test in Cape Town, a majority of the tour was a downside for him. Skipper Virat Kohli showed immense faith in him and Hardik failed miserably to pay back. Furthermore, Hardik also failed to take up the finishers’ role in the side both in the ODIs and T20Is posing some severe headaches to the team management.
Due to Hardik’s failure to do well at the end of the innings, the management was forced to send MS Dhoni down the order for him to take up the responsibility. But neither of them were as effective letting the team down. With the ball, Hardik managed to pick a few wickets here and there but was definitely not worth the fifth bowler in the team.
