South Africa vs India: Thunderstorms expected on the match day in Centurion
India lead the 3-match series 1-0 at the moment.
Team India has been in a rampaging form in the limited overs cricket in the recent times. The way they have dominated the South African side in the ODIs is only a testimonial of the very same fact. And now, the Virat Kohli-led side is taking the same good form forward in the T20Is. In the first match of the three-match series, the visitors notched up a clinical win.
Riding on a brilliant fifty from Shikhar Dhawan, team India managed to cross the 200-run mark in the match. Later, it was an exceptional spell of fast bowling from Bhuvneshwar Kumar that had the Proteas on the back foot. Bhuvneshwar returned with his career best numbers of 5/24 in the match to be named as the Player of the Match.
Now, the action moves to the SuperSport Park in Centurion. On the tour, Centurion has been a happy hunting ground for the Indian side in the limited overs. They won both the ODIs played at the venue. Also, the track at Centurion has proven to be a surprising one. It has been more on the slower side, something like the subcontinental tracks.
Hence, going in to the game, team India will start as firm favorites. A win for them in the match will hand them a historic T20I series win. Now, the biggest hurdle that can come their way in the game is the rain. As per the recent weather reports, the city is expected to have thunderstorms on the day. Much to the relief of the cricket fans and the two sides, the thunderstorms are slated to arrive in the morning of the match day.
As the day will progress, the rains will subside. However, the cloud cover is pretty much there to stay throughout the day. Furthermore, the end of the day could also see the thunderstorms coming back. Considering that the the match has a late start, one could expect the rain to play a part in it towards the end of the game.
Here is how the weather reports look like:
