The eighth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is all set to kick start on Friday, February 10, 2023, with a clash between hosts South Africa and Sri Lanka at the Newlands in Cape Town. Ten teams will participate in 20 league matches before the two semi-finals and the grand final. The summit encounter will take place on Sunday, February 26 at the very same venue.
Australia are the most successful team as they have won the tournament for a record five times. England and the West Indies lifted the trophy once in 2009 and 2016, respectively. Heading into the eighth edition, the Aussies are the favorites yet again to clinch the title.
In the last T20 World Cup held down under in the year 2020, South Africa suffered a heartbreak when they lost in one of the semi-finals against Australia by a margin of five runs (D/L Method). It was a disappointing campaign for Sri Lanka as they lost three out of the four games that they played and finished with just two points.
