Indian opener Rohit Sharma has condemned the incident involving the Australian cricket team. A stone shattered the window pane of the Australian team bus as they were returning to their hotel after winning the 2nd T20I of the 3-match series by 8 wickets. Australia, who lost the ODI series in a humiliating manner, clinched the Guwahati T20I in a very convincing way.

But celebrations took a back seat after the bitter incident took place. Australian cricketer Aaron Finch posted a picture of the broken window pane and wrote “Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel!!.”

No casualty in the incident last night

Cricket Australia’s news site cricket.com.au reported the incident and said no-one was hurt and nobody was sitting in the seat next to the window when it was broken by the rock “believed to be roughly the size of a cricket ball”.

The security increased when the Australian team left for the LGB Airport ahead of their flight to Hyderabad. It has been said that military officers were on and around the team bus to avoid any further damage. Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati hosted an international game for the first time. It was a jam-packed stadium and everything went very smoothly until the incident was reported.

ACA secretary talks about security beef up

“The police have already arrested two persons and are investigating into the matter,” ACA secretary Pradip Buragohain told Press Trust of India. “We made every attempt to ensure a foolproof security but don’t know how this happened. It was near the team hotel and not at the crowded street near the stadium. “I can assure that such incident won’t occur in future again. There will be a thick security cover when the Australian team leaves for Hyderabad.”
