The tenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is 10 days away and excited fans are already queuing at the grounds to collect a preferred seat for the home matches of their team. But fans of the defending champs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who tried to grab their tickets on Sunday (March 26) from the Gymkhana in Secunderabad had to return empty handed and disappointed.

Despite all the arrangements in place and while the tickets were available they couldn’t effect the sales since there was a power cut at the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s (HCA) Gymkhana ground. The crowd that had come out there in strong number waited there to be handed their tickets but had no clue about the reason tickets weren’t sold.

HCA had made an announcement about the sale of tickets starting Sunday in local newspapers as well as via Twitter but sat helpless with no power supply. Eventually realizing that the situation might go out of hand with the crowd HCA officials decided to call the police to evacuate the premises since there was a visible restlessness among the people.

A Sunrisers’ spokesman later confirmed that since there was no power they couldn’t initiate the sale of tickets at Gymkhana which was one among the various centers picked to sell tickets for SRH’s home games. David Warner & Co. who won their first title in 2016 will lock horns against their opponents from the previous final Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season opener at the Rajiv Gandhi international Stadium in Hyderabad on April 5.

They had a super strong bowling lineup last season constituted by the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashish Nehra, and Mustafizur Rahman. In the 2017 player’s auction, they bought two Afghanistan allrounders young Rashid Khan and the veteran Mohammed Nabi along with the duo they also picked up Ben Laughlin and domestic run-piler Eklavya Dwivedi.

The Hyderabad crowd will certainly hope their team continues its winning run this season and retain their title.
