SRH vs GT: Rahul Tripathi plucks a one-handed blinder to send back Shubman Gill
Gill scored only 7 runs courtesy of Tripathi's stunning effort.
The fielding standards in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have gone a notch higher. The season has already witnessed brilliant catches that are already in contention to be the best. Rahul Tripathi is the latest addition to the list as he plucked a stunning one-handed catch during the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT) to dismiss Shubman Gill.
It happened during the third over of the innings after SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl first. Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered a wide half-volley off the second delivery of the over to which Gill sliced powerfully, not caring to keep it down.
The ball was travelling at the rate of knots, but it rested in the hands of Rahul Tripathi, who was standing at the short extra cover position. A four was written all over it when Shubman Gill slammed it with brilliant timing, but Tripathi was on his toes, timing his jump to the left perfectly, and plucking the ball superbly with one hand.
It certainly turned out to be a stunning catch and the fact that the ball was travelling so fast, makes the effort exceptional. SRH fielders, and even the batter, were stunned with the superhuman effort and the latter had to walk back to the pavillion. As for Shubman Gill, he scored 7 runs off 9 balls and couldn’t play a match-winning knock for the Titans this time around. Perhaps, one felt that it needed such a special effort to get the talented batter out, given the form he has been in this season so far.

SRH and GT go unchanged for the game
Meanwhile, both SRH and GT announced unchanged playing XIs for the game, as they had registered victory in their respective previous games. While SRH had defeated the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat Titans made it a hat-trick of wins, beating Punjab Kings in a last-ball thriller.
