Sri Lanka forced to stay back at Dharamsala due to incessant rains
While the Sri Lanka team had to stay back at the venue, the Indian team managed to move to Mohali in time.
The miseries for team Sri Lanka finally ended on the field when they registered an ODI win after 12 successive defeats in the format. They beat the Indian team in the Dharamsala ODI in quite a serious manner. While their on-field troubles ended with the win at the venue, their struggles with the weather conditions on the tour do not seem to end.
Team Sri Lanka were forced to stay back at Dharamsala due to incessant rains. They were left stranded at the airport for almost four hours before the management eventually decided to head back to the team hotel. An official of the HPCA confirmed the news too. He mentioned that this is the first time that such a thing has happened with an international team at the venue.
“The team has returned to the hotel, and is most likely to fly out tomorrow. This is the first time a team has been stuck here. There have been delays earlier but it has never happened that the planes have not been able to land or take off,” said Mohit Sood, an official with HPCA, in a report published by Hindustan Times.
Commuting by road an option
While the Sri Lanka team had to stay back at the venue, the Indian team managed to move to Mohali in time. The Indian team had departed when the weather gods were in favorable form. The HPCA official further added that the team can opt to go by road if the weather conditions do not improve by Tuesday. The two teams are set to lock horns at Mohali for the second ODI.
“We had a discussion with the team management and they decided to stay back. But if the weather doesn’t clear up on Tuesday then the only option left will be to take the road,” he added further.
