England is currently preparing for their upcoming away tour to New Zealand. The WC winners have also got a new tour lined up next year. They will travel to Sri Lanka to play a two-match Test series starting in March 2020. This is the first time that England will travel to this Asian country after 2018 where three lions swept the three-Test series.

The tour will begin from 7th March with a three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI, followed by a four-day first-class fixture between 12 and 15 March, at Colombo’s P Sara Oval.

Sri Lanka set to host England in March

The Test series opener will begin on 19th March at Sri Lanka’s old fortress in Galle. Sri Lanka have lost only two Tests since 2015 at this venue and the important thing is that their last defeat at this venue also came against England in 2018.

After the 1st Test, the second encounter will be played at R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in the national capital Colombo. This series will hold 120 ICC World Test Championship points at stake. At the moment, Sri Lanka Cricket team is on their away tour to Australia for playing the three-match T20I series.

Before they host the English team for a two-match Test series, Sri Lanka is scheduled to play a three-match T20I series against India, followed by two Tests against Zimbabwe, a single Test against Ireland and three ODIs along with two T20Is against West Indies.

For England, their latest assignment is to play five T20Is, and two Tests against NZ. The tour against Kiwis will start with a T20I series starting on the 1st of November. Eoin Morgan returns as the skipper of the team in the upcoming series and will be without the services of their lead bowler Jofra Archer and other senior players who have been given rest by England Cricket Board (ECB) after a hectic summer.
