From being down at 23/4 in the 2nd innings with a slender first innings lead of 10 runs at Lunch, Zimbabwe returned back to hold a commanding position in the game. A gritty unbeaten 97 from Sikandar Raza despite struggling with fitness, put on an unbeaten 107-run stand with Malcolm Waller for the 7th wicket and 86 for the 6th with Peter Moor to end the day at 252/6. Earlier, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 346 runs adding 57 runs to the overnight score which wasn’t possible without Asela Gunaratne’s fighting effort despite being injured.

1 – Graeme Cremer is the first Zimbabwe player to take a 5-wicket haul in Test cricket as captain. The previous best figures in Tests for a Zimbabwe captain were 4/38 by Heath Streak in 2001 against Bangladesh.
