Srikkanth Anirudha confident about progressing in his career

Srikkanth Anirudha, son of the legendary Krishnamachari Srikkanth, is currently playing for the Karaikudi Kaalai in the third edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. He is currently the second-highest run scorer in the tournament with 260 runs from five matches at an average of 65. His team is currently placed in the top spot of the points table.

He has scored a couple of half-centuries in the event with a top score of 93 not out against VB Kanchi Veerans. Moreover, he has scored the runs at a stupendous strike-rate of 174.49. He made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu way back in 2004 against England A but hasn’t quite been able to play a whole lot of matches. Thus far he has an experience of 23 first-class, 66 List A, and 70 T20s.

I know I still have a career ahead of me

The 31-year old has also plied his trade in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. He represented the Chennai Super Kings from 2008 and stayed with them till the 2013 season. The top-order batsman was then picked by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014, but he didn’t get many opportunities. Despite his stop-start career, he is confident about his future in the sport.

“Yes, I started very early. I know I still have a career ahead of me. Things are looking good this season. I have been trying to hit straight and also strike through the line as much as possible. A solid base from where you could launch your shot also helps. I think my 93 not out against VB Kanchi Veerans set things up for me,” Srikkanth was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

“This is the first time I am leading the side. We have been winning, bonding well, and it is a nice feeling. I need to look after my fitness. I am feeling fresh and confident,” he added while hailing his father for helping him out in refurbishing his skills.
